Business Travel News

An annoying in flight inconvenience to go away!

Free soft drinks will soon be back on US Airways flights.

US Airways announced today that it will no longer charge $2 for sodas, juices, bottled water and coffee.

Starting March 1, the Tempe, Ariz.-based carrier,  will resume offering complimentary nonalcoholic beverages.

US Airways became the first and only major carrier last June to charge for soft drinks to offset soaring fuel costs.

Chief executive Doug Parker acknowledged that “being the only large network carrier to charge for drinks put us at a disadvantage.”

“The beverage program was distracting” from other improvements in on-time performance and baggage handling, he said.

However, the airline “remains firmly committed to the a la carte model and believes it’s the right one for our business,” Parker said. “It is also a work in progress.”

Here is the list of non alchohlic drinks from the USAir website:

  • Mother Parker’s Coffee (regular and decaffeinated)
  • Mother Parker’s Tea
